Kochi: Chicken prices and sales in the state are soaring. Since last three months both prices and sales are skyrocketing.
According to traders, if 10 years’ data is evaluated, it is for the first that the prices are continuously rising in months of August and September without any fluctuation. The stable market trend seen in the months of December, April and May is getting repeated. In many places the price of chicken is at Rs 140.
Usually the price of chicken comes down after Onam. However, this time it did not happen. Weeks have passed and prices remain high, giving a prolonged profitable season for traders. The prices may continue to rise as dining in hotels and canteens may return due to easing of Covid-19 curbs.
Meanwhile, the price of chicken feed is also skyrocketing. In three months, the price has gone up by Rs 1,000.
