Kottayam: The survey to identify economically-backward individuals from forward communities in Kerala will begin from December this year. Kudumbashree has been assigned to conduct the survey and is expected that the full report of the survey will be handed over to the government by February 2022.
The questionnaire for the survey has been published on the website of the Commission for Backward Individuals from Forward Communities. Ahead of the survey, various community representatives will be heard by the commission. The state-level hearing of this is scheduled for October seven at 11am at Thycaud guest house in Thiruvananthapuram. The regional level hearings will be held in Palakkad on October 20, Kottayam on October 21, Kollam on October 22, Kasaragod on October 26 and Kannur on October 27.
It has also been decided to select five most economically backward houses in each ward. However, there are concerns over the preciseness of the survey in identifying economically weaker people among the communities.
According to MG Unnikrishnan, a member of the commission, Kudumbashree will be given certain directions in this regard.
Details, such as health condition of family members, expenses, revenue, money spent for education and health and housing, sanitation and drinking water facilities, will be collected during the survey.
