Kochi: The Vigilance arrived at the residence of former PWD Minister VK Ebrahim Kunju with all preparations for his arrest in connection with the Palarivattom flyover scam. A 10-member team, including women personnel, led by DySP arrived at his residence here.

But Kunju was not present at home. His wife informed the Vigilance team that he was in the hospital. However, not taking the word for it, the probe team conducted a search in the house but in vain.

The Vigilance team then went to the Lakeshore Hospital here, held discussions with the doctors and later recorded his arrest.

It is known that Ebrahim Kunju received a tip-off from within the Vigilance on the move for his arrest. Until Tuesday morning he was actively seen in the preparations for the upcoming local body elections. But by afternoon, he received the information on Vigilance’s plan and took off.

He got admitted in the hospital by Tuesday evening. According to his family, he is in the ICU.

Meanwhile, it was reported that he was also making efforts to file anticipatory bail plea in the court.

The Vigilance had planned to interrogate Ebrahim Kunju on Wednesday and record his arrest by evening.
