Kochi: Former PWD minister VK Ebrahim Kunju, who is under arrest in the Palarivattom flyover scam, requires further treatment as he is suffering from cancer, said a medical report. It is stated that Kunju underwent a chemotherapy on November 19 and another one is slated on December 3.

The report submitted in a sealed cover was opened and examined by the court. Doctors added that Kunju has serious health issues and requires continuous medical care.

His health has deteriorated due to chemotherapy and his immunity system too has weakened. Shifting to another hospital for interrogation may result in infection. The report also raised concerns on bone marrow. The court, after considering the report, said he can’t be sent in police custody.

Vigilance had sought four-day custody of Kunju. But court rejected this citing his health condition.

Meanwhile, court informed that after considering DMO’s report a final decision can be arrived on shifting Kunju to government hospital from Lakeshore hospital here as demanded by the prosecution.
