DYFI takes action against 2 leaders active in anti-drug campaign for drinking at bar

Thiruvananthapuram: Two DYFI leaders who were leading the anti-drug campaign were expelled from the organisation for drinking at a bar. The district committee action came after the CCTV footage of the leaders drinking at the bar spread on social media.

Nemom area committee president Ashiq and district committee member Abhijith were dismissed from the organisation. Pictures of the two leaders at the anti-drug campaign and the CCTV footage were spread together.

Meanwhile, investigation has been initiated against leaders in the Nemom area committee over a complaint that they defrauded Rs 1 lakh from the money collected for a memorial and ambulance in the name of late leader P Baiju.

Nemom area secretary Manukuttan and committee member Nitin Raj would face the investigation. There were other complaints stating that the leaders defrauded money from the amount collected for the families of the activists, who died of Covid.
