DYFI, SFI activists booked for using expletives against police
Kollam: Police registered a case against a group of DYFI activists for using expletives against policemen at Iravipuram station where they had come to release an SFI activist.
The group of Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) activists, led by a local leader, came to Iravipuram police station to release Students Federation of India (SFI) Kollam district committee member Sachin Das.
Sachin was taken into police custody after the bike which he was riding did not have necessary documents. During inquiry, Sachin gave contradicting answers, police said. Growing suspicious that the bike was stolen, police took him into custody.
Later, on learning that the bike was not stolen and it had all the proper documents, police reportedly decided to release Sachin.
However, on learning about the incident, a group of DYFI leaders came to the station to release Sachin. They got into an argument with the police and later used expletives against the officials.
Following the incident, Iravipuram police registered non bailable cases against seven persons including Sachin. Further investigation is on.
