DVR thrown into lake, says employees; police arrest 'No.18' hotel owner Roy, five others
Kochi: The DVR containing the visuals of the DJ party held on the intervening night of October 31 and November 1 was destroyed and thrown to the lake, the employees of 'No. 18' hotel reportedly told the police on Wednesday.
Following this, the Palarivattom police arrested Roy Vayalat, the owner of 'No.18' hotel and five of his employees in relation to the death of former Miss Kerala Ansi Kabeer and her friends.
The employees are identified as KK Anil, Wilcon Reynold, MB Melvin, G A Sijulal, and Vishnu Kumar.
They are charged with various sections of IPC for destroying the CCTV visuals of the hotel.
Earlier, Ansi's family had said that the police have not taken considerable actions against Roy. However, they had asserted their satisfaction in the investigation.
Roy had earlier concealed the CCTV visuals of the DJ party hall. He submitted the DVR after the interrogation of the police. However, police revealed that he had removed the visuals of the DJ party. Though the police raided the hotel again on Wednesday, they could not find the relevant DVR.
Police have extended the investigation to find the discarded hard disk. Police will probe in the vicinity of Kannamkattu bridge at Thevara. The hotel employees have been taken to the spot to recoup the hard disk.
Meanwhile, Abdul Rahman, who drove the car that met with the accident, was released on bail. He was booked for causing an accident while driving under the influence of alcohol and for involuntary manslaughter. He was released on Wednesday evening from the Kakkanad police station.
