Duty of opposition to point out government’s lapses: Ramesh Chennithala
Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala claimed that it was the responsibility of the opposition to point out the lapses by the government. He was responding to the allegations raised by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan against the opposition party during Saturday’s press conference.
Ramesh Chennithala claimed that UDF offers complete support to the government in COVID-19 prevention activities and that a COVID control room at his office is still functioning. However, the government is trying to take credit for all the actions that are done with the help of the opposition as well. This is being done with the help of government agencies, the opposition leader claimed.
UDF in Kerala has not taken the attitude that CPM has adopted in Bengal. No UDF leader in Kerala has given half as many statements given by Sitharam Yechury in Bengal. He said that even during the Kerala floods, UDF worked hand in hand with the government. He also alleged that the CM is protecting all those who tried to steal money from the flood relief fund.
The government’s policy is to let the NRIs die on foreign soil. The expats were helped by organisations affiliated to the opposition party. Chennithala also criticised the choice of words used by the Chief Minister. NK Premachandran is one of the best MPs in India. He was awarded the best Parliamentarian award as well. However, the CM abused him by calling him a ‘paranari’. He even abused TP Chandrasekharan soon after he was murdered. Kerala as a whole was insulted by the CM’s choice of words.
However, Pinarayi Vijayan has not withdrawn any of those words. The Chief Minister used derogatory language to talk about Mullappally’s father. Chennithala also alleged that CM did not utter a word when ministers in his cabinet abused women using words such as ‘Poothana’. The LDF convener even tried to humiliate Ramya Haridas. Kerala is well aware of the language used by his cabinet ministers regarding women. Pinarayi Vijayan said that he did not know about the remarks made by Kayamkulam MLA against journalists. The CM also said that he was not aware of the comments made by the Women and Child Welfare Commission Chairman about CPM.
The people of Kerala know Mullappally Ramachandran. Congress workers in Kerala will not allow Mullappally to be targeted and attacked. The Chief Minister’s party is not even ready to control the cyber-attacks against Mullappally’s father. CM’s approach is to insult Congress party whenever he gets an opportunity, Ramesh Chennithala alleged.
