Dubai: The bodies of the couple from Malappuram who died in a fire accident in their Dubai apartment will reach Kozhikode on Monday morning. The bodies have been flown to the state by Air India Express from Sharjah.

Malappuram Vengara native Rijesh (38) and his wife Jishi (32) died in a fire at a residential building in Dubai's Dera. According to the police, the couple died of suffocation. Rijesh worked as a travel employee while Jishi was a teacher at Khizais Crescent School.

The police suspect that the cause of the fire was short-circuit. As per reports, 16 people died in the tragic accident, including two Tamil Nadu natives, on Saturday afternoon.
