Kuttiady: New Mahe police station SI Anil Kumar was held for creating chaos in an inebriated condition in Thottilpalam town.
On Thursday night, the drunk officer who was accompanied by his family, hurled abuses at a hotel owner in Pakramthalam Churam, before leaving the place without paying the bill.
He created ruckus at Thottilpalam KSRTC bus depot as well.
Coming to know about the incident, residents and Thottilpalam police swung into action. They stopped the taxi in which the SI was traveling. By force, he was taken to the Thottilpalam police station.
The cop who verbally abused the locals and the police officials revealed his identity during interrogation.
He was charged for creating nuisance after drinking and was later released on bail.
