Drug use among school students: Attendance to be counted in evenings too

Education Minister V Sivankutty.

Thiruvananthapuram: General education minister V Sivankutty said that school students are being used as drug carriers in Kerala. “The operations of drug traffickers are now mostly centred around schools,” he said.

“The government is on high alert. Combined efforts of police and the excise department is crucial in tackling the situation,” said Sivankutty.

The education minister also said that this year he has directed schools to take attendance in the evenings as well, in order to make sure that students remain at school.

He also instructed the school officials to make sure that all arrangements for reopening are done before May 27.
