Transport Commissioner M R Ajith Kumar informed that the officials have the authority to suspend the license according to the latest amendment made in the Central Motor Vehicles Rules.
The state government had reduced the fine to Rs 500 which was decided at Rs 1000 in the central rules. However, the condition to suspend the driving license for 3 months has not been withdrawn. Even if the fine is paid, license can be suspended and the person can be sent to driver refresher course.
