Aluva: Edathala Police have arrested Aluva native Aneesh (46) in the complaint filed by the parents of the LKG student Hyza Fathima (4) who fell off a moving bus here in Aluva. The girl, a student of Al-Hind Public School, Pengattussery, fell through the emergency door of the bus and was saved from a gruesome accident by locals.
The incident took place in Pengattussery on Thursday afternoon. The girl’s father, Chunangamveli native A M Yusuf, filed a complaint with Edathala police stating that the girl was not even given primary treatment after the accident. The family also alleged that the bus driver and the school officials did not take the girl to hospital on time after the accident. The girl was taken to the hospital after she started showing uneasiness and only then did the family come to know about the bruises on her body and the accident that took place.
In the investigation led by the Joint RTO, it was found that there were 61 students on the bus having 42 seats. The officials said that actions, including suspending license of the driver, are under consideration. The vehicle did not have the safety glass shield that is installed to prevent the emergency door from opening accidentally. Action will be taken to cancel the fitness of the vehicle.
District collector Dr Renu Raj has directed the deputy director of education and the SHO concerned to probe the matter in detail and submit the report. Kerala State Commission for Protection of Child Rights also registered a case after receiving the complaint.
Have taken action, says management
The school management informed that necessary actions were taken following the accident. The driver was instructed to be relieved from duty. The girl was taken to her home immediately after the accident. However, the girl’s family informed that they would wait until her father got home to take her to the hospital, the school officials said.
