Kottayam: Police recovered a dead body after it dug up the floor of a house in Changanassery here.
The police narrowed down on the suspect while tracking a missing youth from Alappuzha, Bindukumar (41). However, the identity of the dead body can be confirmed only after tests.
The house of Muthukumar, the prime suspect, is situated near the Randam Palam on the MC Road near Changanassery. The police team arrived at the house on Saturday morning. Police believe Muthukumar killed Bindukumar and buried there.
Alappuzha native Bindukumar reportedly went missing on September 26. Police registered case on 28. His bike was found in a stream in Vakathanam. The probe on his mobile tower location took police to Changanassery. They concentrated the investigation on Muthukumar, a friend of Bindukumar.
The decision to dig the floor was taken after raiding the house. Police found a portion of the floor near the kitchen was redone recently. However, police say Muthukumar is not in their custody. Natives say Muthukumar was not spotted in the area for the past four days. His wife is working abroad.
