Donate a month’s salary to relief fund; Pinarayi to govt staff
Thiruvananthapuram: Amid the coronavirus outbreak, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan requested the government employees to donate one month’s salary to Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund. He noted that the state is facing a severe financial crisis and appealed all government staff to contribute their one month salary to overcome the crisis.
The Chief Minister has recommended this while addressing the meeting of the leaders from various service associations here on Monday.
“The government has to find crores of rupees for ration supply and arrangement of other basic facilities in the state. In this situation, the government would request the staff to contribute their one month’s salary to the relief fund,” said the Chief Minister.
It is reported that the service associations also favoured the recommendation. Meanwhile, the associations demanded that the request for donation should not be forcefully implemented.
Opposition party’s NGO association demanded that employees in the lower division must be avoided from contributing.
The service associations informed the chief minister that a final decision on it will be taken after discussing it with all committees. Meanwhile, associations under the ruling party supported the chief minister’s recommendation.
