Kochi: A section of health experts and epidemiologists in the state has warned the public to adhere to all the necessary precautions and urged the citizens not to let their guard down against Covid-19 as Kerala witnessed fever clusters.
According to them, the public should realize that the Covid situation has not yet been subdued. They pointed out that it seems citizens have forgotten the practices like masking, hand washing and social distancing. Such tendencies will increase the spread of the virus.
Especially as the monsoon season has arrived, Covid-19 and influenza are more probable to spread as the climatic conditions are favourable for their spread, they warn.
Experts cite that there are fever clusters in the state, but Covid-19 testing is also in a declining trend like elsewhere in the country. The antigen tests are not enough to find the presence of the Omicron variant, they cautioned.
As per the data, Kerala recorded 4,928 Covid-19 cases last week. Of that 1,381 were from Ernakulam district. The data also reveals one in every 100 persons is Covid-19 positive in Ernakulam, Thiruvananthapuram and Kottayam.
