Rabies infected dog dies in Kollam, locals say it attacked women, pets

Kollam: Rabies infection was confirmed in another dog days after its death in Kerala’s Kollam. The sample taken from its dead body has tested positive for rabies. According to the locals, the dog had bitten some women and pets at Sasthamcotta here.

The Animal Husbandry department officials unearthed the dog’s body as suspecting rabies infection and collected its samples for the test. The test has confirmed the rabies infections as leaving the bite victims and pet owners in the region on their toes.

The dog had bitten two elderly women and pets including a goat and a cat.

A few days after the attack, the dog was found dead.The bite victims have been taking the anti-rabies vaccine as recommended by the health officials.

While, the authorities concerned have decided to observe the animals in the locality including pets.
