Doctor who received first vaccine shot in Kozhikode urges every one to step forward without anxiety
Kozhikode: Dr.Vipin Varkey, who took the first dose of Covishield vaccine in the district at the Beach hospital, stated that vaccination felt like a Tetanus Toxoid (TT) injection and that it did not cause any sort of irritation. The vaccine drive started on Saturday by 10.45 am after the inauguration by Prime minister Narendra Modi. Dr.Varkey said that he came out of observation thirty minutes after the vaccine was injected. He also encouraged everyone to step forward without any anxiety to take the vaccine.
33,799 people, including the health workers from private hospitals, have registered for the first phase of vaccination in the district. Each vaccination centre has 1 vaccinator and 4 vaccination officers. Ambulance facility is available in each centre in case someone feels discomfort after taking the vaccine. Each centre will vaccinate 100 people per day. So 1100 people will be vaccinated from 11 centres in the district each day. Children, pregnant women and COVID positive patients will not be vaccinated.
COVID guidelines are strictly followed in the waiting room. Only one person will be allowed inside the vaccination room at once.
Kozhikode Medical College, General Hospital, District Ayurveda Hospital, Feroke ESI Hospital, Taluk Hospitals in Nadapuram, Koyilandy and Perambra, Panangad Family Health Centre, Narikkuni and Mukkom Health Centres and Aster MIMS are the vaccination centres in Kozhikode.
