Bovikanam (Kasaragod): K Sathyanadhan and Geetha, a couple running Vinayaka Hotel in Iriyanni had to take a loan by mortgaging their house to fulfil their daughter's dream. Sajini K, their daughter is the second MBBS graduate from Iriyanni Govt Vocational Higher Secondary School here.
The couple runs a small single-room hotel in a rented building at Iriyanni. They have been running the hotel for 22 years.The duo has been making their livelihood from this hotel. After Covid, the hotel had to close for several days and the loan repayment was suspended for four months. But they are happy that they could make their daughter pursue her dream to become a doctor by running this small business.
Sajini who was very passionate in studies dreamt to become a doctor from her childhood. She joined the training centre at Kozhikode to prepare for the MBBS entrance examination as soon as she completed the 12th standard.
The first year her grades were far behind. The second time, she secured below 2000. She got admission to Mount Zion Medical College, Adoor in Pathanamthitta on merit. Finally, she completed MBBS with flying colours.
Sajini's brother Sajith holds a Diploma in Engineering and is working in a private company in Coimbatore.
