Doctor arrested for allegedly demanding bribe for surgery


Kottayam: A doctor in the government service has been arrested by the Vigilance for allegedly demanding bribe.

Dr Sujith Kumar of Kanjirappally general hospital demanded Rs 5,000 from a patient for a surgery. He was given Rs 2,000 before the process. The surgery was completed after receiving the amount.

Dr Sujith demanded the remaining Rs 3,000 from the son of the patient. Following this, he complained to the Vigilance.

The team nabbed the doctor while accepting the remaining amount at the consultation room next to his house.
