Doc assaulted for taking photos of food items stored in hotel's washroom in Kannur

Pilathara: A doctor faced assault from a hotel owner and employees for taking photos of food items and veggies stored inside the washroom. The police arrested the hotel owner and two others for assaulting the doctor.

The medical officer of Bandadka PHC in Kasaragod Dr Subbaraya took photos at the KC restaurant situated on KSTP Road. Hotel owner Mohammad Moineen (28) and his sister Samina (29), and hotel security guard T Dasan (70), were arrested for assaulting Subbaraya.

The incident took place around 10 am on Sunday. During an excursion to Kannur, Dr Subbaraya and 31 other hospital staff and family members went to dine at the restaurant. Inside the washroom, they found food items and vegetables stored. Dr Subbaraya took a photo and video of it.

After seeing this, the accused assaulted the doctor and snatched the phone from him. The police said the accused threatened them as well. Later, the police were contacted by the hospital staff.

Pariyaram inspector KV Babu, SI Roopa Madhusoodhanan and others nabbed the accused. Besides, a notice was issued to the hotel and action would be taken against the culprits, an official said.
