Do not self-diagnose Omicron as patient may not lose taste and smell: Veena George

Thiruvananthapuram: An Omicron positive patient may not lose smell and taste, said Veena George on Saturday. She requested people to avoid self-diagnosing based on this and take the test if someone shows other symptoms such as fever and throat pain.

People had lost smell and taste when infected with the Delta variant of the Covid-19. Such a situation do not exist for the Omicron variant.

Kerala on Saturday reported 48 more Omicron cases taking the state tally to 528.

Of the total cases, 365 came from low-risk countries, 92 from high-risk countries, 61 were primary contacts, and 10 came from other states in the country.
