Diver dies in hospital after partaking in rescue operation in Bharathapuzha

Shoranur: A man who was hospitalised after taking part in a rescue operation to locate a missing person in Bharathapuzha died on Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Ramakrishnan (62), an expert diver from Shoranur.

On Wednesday evening, Faisal, a Cheruthurthi native, went missing after he entered the waters of Bharathapuzha to bath. Ramakrishnan and others arrived at the place and started rescue operation.

However, he returned after spending ten minutes in the waters. He was rushed to a hospital after he showed signs of discomfort. He died later in the hospital.

Meanwhile, locals and the fire force officials were unable to find Faisal.

Ramakrishnan is an expert diver often relied on by the fire force personnel for various rescue operations. Further, he taught young children swimming and was involved in related activities.
