Kochi: Kerala High Court in its interim order here on Wednesday directed the KSRTC to pay pending salaries to the conductors and drivers. The court ordered that those in supervisory posts should be only paid after distributing salary to drivers and conductors.
The court asked KSRTC to disburse salary to the employees on time and directed the government to make necessary intervention to make the company self-sufficient.
Justice Devan Ramachandran issued the order on a petition filed by KSRTC employees seeking disbursal of salary before the fifth day of every month.
The court asked whether the government was giving priority to KSRTC and how long it would go on without paying its employees. The court also criticized the government for taking loans to pay pensions and salaries to KSRTC employees. Justice Devan Ramachandran pointed out that he is intervening in the matter on behalf of the public.
The court also criticized KSRTC management over the current financial state of the company. The court also criticized the union for not considering the situation of the employees. The court also directed KSRTC to produce a detailed report on its assets and liabilities.
