Mattathur: In an act of revenge, a man tried to cut a coconut tree knowing very well that a worker was sitting on top of the tree tapping toddy. The toddy tapper broke his leg trying to jump off and the incident took place in Vellikulangara, Thrissur on Sunday.
The victim has been identified as Jayan (43), a native of Vellikulangara. The police have arrested Bismi (45) in connection with the incident.
Bismi had cut down the coconut tree using a chainsaw while Jayan was sitting up the tree.
According to preliminary reports, a dispute over toddy had resulted in the felling of the tree, said the police.
