MK Raghavan
Kozhikode: Congress workers engaged in conflict after Elathoor assembly seat was given to Nationalist Congress Kerala (NCK). Clashes erupted during a consensus meeting to discuss the seat dispute at DCC office. Following the conflict, MP M K Raghavan walked out of the meeting stating that they cannot accept NCK candidate Sulfikar Mayoori.
Currently, three candidates from UDF have filed nomination in Elathoor. Nationalist Congress Kerala, Bharatheeya National Janata Dal and KPCC executive council member Dinesh Mani are the three candidates.
During the meeting led by KPCC working president K V Thomas, the state leadership suggested that Sulfikar Mayoori should be accepted. With this, the clashes erupted. MK Raghavan opposed this suggestion and walked out of the meeting.
Earlier, there was allegation that Dinesh Mani was made the candidate due to the intervention of MP M K Raghavan. All three candidates have been summoned to the DCC office in the afternoon for further talks. The situation in Elathoor worsened after the consensus meeting witnessed untoward incidents.
