Kozhikode: Vigilance will interrogate former Azhikode MLA K M Shaji again in connection with the cases registered against him for amassing disproportionate assets. The Vigilance issued summons to K M Shaji asking him to appear for interrogation.

The Vigilance will measure his house in Kannur within 2 days. His residence at Mavoor in Kozhikode was examined the other day.

There are reports that the findings of the probe team and Shaji’s statements do not match. Hence he will be summoned again for further interrogation.

Shaji had given proof for the money seized from his house with receipts for the money collected along with the counterfoils and the proof of the minutes. But the vigilance said these were fake and were fabricated.

K M Shaji told the probe team that it was the mandalam committee which decided to collect funds for assembly polls. The money seized from his house was meant for assembly campaign activities and the vigilance had seized Rs 47 lakhs from his house.

Vigilance had earlier found that Shaji possessed disproportionate wealth. A preliminary investigation was held against Shaji last November and a case booked. The Vigilance had held inspection of his house earlier too.
