Thiruvananthapuram: The Supreme Court has rejected the demand to cancel the Kerala High Court order seeking to dismiss empaneled employees in Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC). The apex court granted KSRTC time till June 30 to implement the HC order.
The Corporation can appoint temporary staff to prevent failure in schedules. But such employees must not remain in service for over 180 days, the court said. The SC questioned why KSRTC was thinking it needing only temporary employees.
Meanwhile, Transport Minister A K Saseendran said that more time granted to implement the HC order was a relief. He said that steps to implement the order would be taken without troubling the government or KSRTC.
The KSRTC had argued in the court that it had the right to appoint temporary staff.
