Kochi: The Kerala high court on Thursday ordered to dismiss the M-Panel conductors in KSRTC. A division bench including justice Chidambaresh and justice Pisharody pronounced the interim order to dismiss M-Panel employees, who have less than 10 years of service and have worked for less than 120 days a year, within one week.
A group of candidates had approached the high court after no appointment was conducted from the PSC list for conductor appointment, even after Advice Memo was sent. At present there are 7,800 M-Panel employees in KSRTC. With the order being implemented, 3,600 workers will lose their jobs.
At the same time allegations are surfacing that KSRTC officials couldn’t present their argument at the court. M-Panel employees are appointed attend the day to day works when there is a shortage of employees. The official response given by KSRTC is that they can’t be included as normal contract workers.
However, the possibility of not implementing the order is less as KSRTC had earlier submitted a report to the government stating the number of employees in the corporation is in excess.
