Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan stated that opposition parties are competing to gather people in the name of organising protests.
COVID protocols are not being adhered to in any way. People are gathering illegally and are also destroying public property. These protestors will be charged with Disaster Management Act and with Kerala Epidemic Disease Ordinance, the Chief Minister warned in a press conference.
“385 cases have been registered from September 11 against members of various political parties who were protesting against minister KT Jaleel. 1,131 people were arrested. The protestors are not wearing masks. 1,629 cases have been registered in this regard, including against MLAs Shafi Parambil and Sabarinath. Protests are organised without taking necessary precautions,” the Chief Minister said.
He also added that a volatile situation is being created in the state intentionally.
“No form of activity should be carried out without wearing masks or social distancing. Under the current circumstances, these protests can only be seen as a challenge against the state,” Pinarayi Vijayan said.
He added that everyone should take efforts to prevent the virus from spreading.
