Direct Pinarayi VIjayan to step down from CM post, Benny Behanan writes to Sitaram Yechury
New Delhi: UDF Convenor Benny Behenan has written a letter to CPI (M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury, in connection with the gold smuggling case.
In the letter, Benny Behanan said that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is under the shadow of suspicion and so he should be directed to step down from the CM’s post.
Earlier, opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala had sent a similar letter to Sitaram Yechury.
Serious allegations have been raised against the Chief Minister’s office. NIA has already interrogated some officials connected to the office. The CM should follow precedent and should step down from the post, UDF convenor wrote in the letter.
KT Jaleel and the children of some of the ministers are also under the shadow of suspicion, Benny Behanan added. The UDF convenor also asked Yechury to remove all the leaders and ministers from their respective positions if they brought a bad reputation to CPI (M).
In the letter, Benny Behanan also reminded that the former leaders of CPI (M) had fought against corruption.
