Kochi: The prosecution in the actor abduction and sexual harassment case of 2017 levelled serious allegations against the trial court while the high court was considering actor Dileep's anticipatory bail plea. Dileep and five others had approached the HC in the case of conspiracy to kill the investigation officers.
The prosecution claimed that the woman doctor who went to testify in the trial court was threatened. It is a highly unfortunate incident. None of the events came out since the trial was held secretly. However, the prosecution added that they were making this remark after understanding everything that was going on in the trial court.
The prosecution stated that Dileep is constantly trying to influence witnesses. Two cases were registered on this. The prosecution is trying to establish that the actor and his friends have gone beyond conspiring to kill the officers.
Earlier, Justice P Gopinath raised doubts over the legal validity of the case. The court pointed out that an accused can be convicted only when a crime is committed. However, here crime has not been committed. Citing the Supreme Court verdicts from the past, the court asked the prosecution how something said by someone can be regarded as a reason for conspiracy.
However, the prosecution replied that the new evidence submitted before the court was enough to ascertain that the accused had conspired to attack the investigation officers. There was a clear case of conspiracy involved in the incident, the prosecution said. However, they refused to share more details about the evidence in the open court.
