Differently-abled panchayat president gives paper bundle for govt hospital as protest
Mannarkad: After the employees of Mannarkkad Taluk Hospital refused to give a sheet of paper to write an application, a panchayat president held a unique protest by buying a bundle of paper and a set of 10 pens for them.
Thachanattukara panchayat president KPM Saleem Master, is a differently-abled person, brought to light the experience he faced through a social media post. He pointed out that he did the act of protest on behalf of the commoners who are physically challenged.
Saleem visited the hospital to get a certificate from medical board for a bedridden patient. He had brought the necessary documents for it. However, as it was difficult for him to climb the steps with stretcher in hands, he assigned his driver who accompanied him.
When the driver enquired about formalities, they told him to submit a request along with the document for issuing the certificate. The driver asked for a sheet of paper but they refused to offer him one.
Though the driver said he is a government employee and is acting on behalf of the panchayat president, they asked him to buy it from outside. He returned to Saleem and informed the matter. Following this, Saleem bought a bundle of paper and a set of 10 pens and gave it to them.
According to Saleem’s social media post, he does not want to make an issue out of it, but only intended to bring to loight the inhumane attitude of various government mechanisms.
Saleem mentioned in the social media that the individuals who visit the taluk hospital are the ones who are physically or mentally ailing, their relatives, people representatives or social activists. 'If a panchayat president had an ordeal like this, what will be the plight of others', he asked in the social media post.
