Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has come up with an explanation for not visiting the Rajamala landslide spot while he visited Karipur after the flight crash.
"Rescue operation is underway in Rajamala and that is why I did not visit. I went to Karipur to know what should be done for the people who are under treatment after the rescue operation is complete," he stated.
It was only an interim ex-gratia that was announced for Rajamala landslide victims. The disasters in Rajamala and Karipur are of two different types. Various agencies and sections should be coordinated for rescue operation. It is progressing in Rajamala. It was difficult to reach there, the chief minister said.
Minister M M Mani and E Chandrasekharan are camping there for supervising the rescue mission. We thought of visiting the place in helicopter, but it could not be done due to hostile weather. Following this, the minister travelled in car to reach there, he added.
The rescue mission is not complete in Rajamala. The people have lost everything and the government is trying to help them. The situation will be clear only after the rescue operation is completed. The victims will be protected and helped to survive, the chief minister assured.
