Thiruvananthapuram: KSRTC managing director Biju Prabhakar said that he did not criticise all the employees as a whole.
Speaking to Mathrubhumi News, Biju Prabhakar clarified that he had criticised only a section of the employees. “I said that only one section of the employees is troublesome. I will identify and take action against them,” he said with confidence.
“95 percent of the KSRTC employees are working well. Only 5 percent are troublesome. They don’t have the backing of any of the labour unions. The union leaders themselves have clarified it. For the last 7 months, I have been implementing the directions made by the labour unions,” explained Biju Prabhakar.
For one section of the employees, KSRTC is only a time-pass. They have other jobs. Some incapable higher officials are the reason for the problems. KSRTC lacks organised effort. I do not believe that I can iron out corruption completely. But my job is to implement a new system and remove the possibility of corruption. I am confident that I can lead KSRTC to a better position in three years, said Biju Prabhakar.
KSRTC does not have a functioning system to probe and find culprits. Diesel theft is a reality. There must be a system to find this out. The odometer is not working in many of the buses. There have been reports of some drivers sleeping inside the buses with the AC on. KSRTC’s internal vigilance system must be strengthened. There are lapses in many of the construction activities, he added.
Biju Prabhakar said that the protests against him were the result of a misunderstanding. I held the press conference because some things needed to be said out loud. As the MD of KSRTC, I am the apt person to speak about the corporation. The people should know all this through the media, he added.
