DGP issues strict directives to ensure welfare of police officers on duty
Thiruvananthapuram: DGP Loknath Behera issued strict instructions to ensure the welfare of all police officers who have been deployed for carrying out lockdown duties across the state. The directives also mentions change in shift for the officers as restrictions will be continued for a long time in the state.
His directives include providing officers with food and water at the right time, availability of mask, sanitisers, gloves, facilities to ensure that the officers get to wash their hands at regular intervals, strictly maintain social distance and avoid any kind of touch while checking vehicles or individuals concerned among others. Behera also said that District police heads will be entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring that the officers are well taken care of.
Loknath Behera also instructed the district police chiefs to assign duty shifts to officers so that they get sufficient rest between duty timings, He also suggested keeping a team of reserve police officers for emergency situations.
The responsibility of assigning duties to Police officers will be that of DySP level officers. Officers of Assistant commander post will be assigned to ensure welfare of officers in the battalion. He also said the officers should be briefed regularly about the need to keep safe social distancing and maintaining good hygiene.
