There shouldn’t be any unlawful use of force, says DGP Anil Kant


State Police chief Anil Kant said that police officers should not exert force under any circumstance except during those prescribed by the law.

Thiruvananthapuram: State police chief Anil Kant has directed to strengthen the functioning of police stations in Kerala.

In an online meeting with district police chiefs, range DIGs and zone inspector generals, the DGP said: “The district special branches should be strengthened to report accurate details of all developments in the limits of various police stations to the district police chief.”

"Force should not be exerted under any circumstance except during those prescribed by law. And it has to be only in accordance with the law," Kant said.

The sub divisional police officers should clearly evaluate the day-to-day activities in police stations. When people are brought to the station in connection with cases or crime, due process must be completed.

The district police chiefs have also been directed to visit police stations at regular intervals.
