Deviating from party policy led to defeat, says VS
New Delhi: Senior CPM leader VS Achuthanandan raised a sharp criticism against his party which led to the defeat in Lok Sabha elections. He stated that personal decisions, deviating from the party policy, led to LDF’s rout in the polls. He made the opinion in a letter send to CPM politburo.
The senior CPM leader also condemned that the party is surrendering before capitalists in Kerala.
“Immediate action should be taken to rectify the mistakes. Presently, the communist party leaders are not working on the basis of the policy and programmes of the party. Hence, their activities are biased,” noted the leader.
The party was developed in Kerala with the strong cooperation of workers and farmers. But at present, the party has excluded a group of people by deviating from the policy. For example, in the Harrisons land row case, the LDF government took a stand against the public,” criticised the senior leader.
He also noted that the party is only focussed on elections and its existence is under question.
“It’s time for accurate rethinking. The party should examine its activities and self criticise. I think the party faced the defeat as they were not practicing self-criticism. Apart from this, political discipline is mandatory rather than discipline in the party,” he added.
He reviewed that neither political tactics nor strategy did not lead to the defeat.
The party should work on the basis of its policy and programmes. As the party is not practising this, it results in biased decisions, noted VS Achuthanandan.
He demanded that the party’s failure in the polls should not be examined with mere excuses.
“Party should be ready to work along with the public. It is high time for a self-examination within the party,” pointed out the leader.
