Devaswom minister, TDB president lauds SC verdict on Sabarimala
Thiruvananthapuram: The historic verdict of Supreme court allowing women of all age groups in Sabarimala temple, received mixed response in Kerala. Devaswom minister Kadakampally Surendran welcomed the verdict.
“The apex court has made a historic verdict. I accept and welcome it. Devaswom board should implement it. There are different opinions regarding the subject. It may lead to some problems. But law is above all. I hope people would accept it,” said minister.
Meanwhile, Travancore Devaswom Board president Padmakumar told the media that he too accepts the verdict and he will make necessary arrangements for women's entry in the temple.
“The supreme court made a verdict on a subject which has been argued before the court since a long time. I am ready to make all arrangements to ease the entry of women in the temple,” said TDB president.
He added that TDB has informed its stand on the subject before the court.
“Though the supreme court pronounced a verdict which is against TDB’s stand, I am ready to accept it. Necessary arrangements will be made after holding talks with the government,” said Padmakumar.
He stated that he is not disappointed over the verdict.
“I believe Lord Ayappa has made us to fulfill his wish. We are obliged to follow him. There is nothing that violates the custom. The board is adhered to obey the court order,” he added.
