Kottayam woman's detention in Oman: Police nab key accused, slap charges under human trafficking

Pala: The police here on Sunday arrested a man from Idukki for the alleged detention of a Kerala woman in Oman. The accused is identified as Idukki native Manoj. Police have slapped charges including human trafficking on the accused.

The police intervention comes in response to the complaint filed by the victim’s mother and husband.

According to the complaint, the accused received money from the woman after offering her a teaching job in Oman. Later, he took the woman to Oman and made her work as a housemaid. As per the complaint, the woman is detained in the house.

She was forced to do housekeeping and went through a traumatic experience.

Police informed that the accused is also booked in similar cases. The probe team suspect that more people are involved in the crime.
