Thiruvananthapuram: A special portal is being created to allow family members of those who died of Covid to submit their applications for Covid death compensation. The application process will be online. The compensation will be credited to the bank account directly.

The portal is being prepared by the IT Department of the Land Revenue Commissionerate. The Kerala State Disaster Management Authority has prepared the questions to be asked in the application form. Once the portal becomes serviceable, the applications will be invited.

The dependents of the deceased can apply directly or through Akshaya centres. Instructions will be issued once the portal is complete. The distribution of the compensation amount will be more efficient after completing additions to the death list by following the new criteria.

The village officers will check the eligibility of the dependents claiming compensation and give the applications to the Tahsildars. There will be special arrangements made for resolving the complaints. The state government had passed an order allowing Rs 50,000 to the families of those who died of Covid.
