PK Kunhalikutty, Sayed Hyderali Shihab Thangal

Kochi: Indian Union Muslim League leader Sayed Hyderali Shihab Thangal (74) passed away on Sunday while undergoing cancer treatment. He was admitted to the Little Flower hospital in Angamaly for the past 10 days.

IUML national general secretary PK Kunhalikutty said that the condition of Thangal worsened by Saturday evening and the hospital authorities informed that a cardiac arrest resulted in the sudden death. Further details can be revealed only after obtaining an official statement, said Kunhalikutty.

Kunhalikutty remembered that he and Thangal were brought up together along with his brothers. Shihab Thagal was more like an elder brother to him. His support was there while taking up the responsibilities conferred by the party. Thangal’s family’s bond with the public was immense. He was poised and a calm leader just like Sayeed Mohammedali Shihab Thangal and an exemplar in religious and spiritual affairs.

Kunhalikutty recollected how Thangal could resolve any issues in the party arising out of contradictory opinions of members with his final decision.

The demise of Mohammedali Shihab Thangal and now Shihab Thangal were a huge loss to the society, opined Kunhalikutty.
