Deedi Damodaran
Kochi: In the backdrop of the recent remarks of former DGP R Sreelekha, screenwriter Deedi Damodaran urged Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to elucidate his stance. She said that Sreelekha’s response was not in accordance with the office she held. Deedi questioned Sreelekha by asking how could the latter issue such a statement despite being a woman.
“Sreelekha’s statements show how a woman holding a high position act as an agent of the patriarchy. Kerala can recognise the person whom she represents,” said Deedi.
Deedi Damodaran condemned Sreelekha by pointing out that Sreelekha might be unaware of the transition of the victim to a survivor in this case. Such incidents prove that the governing system and other institutions are not with the survivor, she said.
If any declaration has the potential to destroy the beliefs of the common people, the government should defend them. Sreelekha, who received salary from the tax collected from the public was expected to respond with more responsibility, Deedi slammed the former woman police officer.
Sreelekha claimed there is no valid evidence to prove that actor Dileep is guilty in the actress attack case. By discarding the findings of the investigation team, Sreelekha posted a video titled 'Dileep innocent in Assault Case?' on her Youtube Channel. She criticized the investigation team for lack of solid evidence against the actor and questioned the authenticity of the police charge sheet in the case.
Sreelekha was the Director General of Prisons and Correctional Services at the police department when the assault was reported.
Even after arresting Pulsar Suni and keeping him in custody for two weeks, the investigation team did not reveal that he belonged to a quotation team. She claimed it was a fellow prisoner of Pulsar Suni, the prime accused in the case, who wrote the letter from the prison. Sreelekha also added that many other people in the film field had similar experiences from Pulsar Suni.
