Deaths in road accident: MVD officials to visit homes of victims
Kochi: Representatives of the Motor Vehicle Department will visit the houses of the people who were killed in road accidents. Enforcement RTOs and Motor Vehicle Inspectors will pay a visit to houses and console the family members.
The department has taken the decision to boost the sense of responsibility among the enforcement officials.
The transport Commissioner has issued an order regarding this to make the officials behave properly after realizing the domestic and social consequences of deaths due to road accidents. At present, the home visit is assigned as part of the duty.
The officials will visit the house of the deceased people four days from the accident. The transport commissioner also asked the officials to complete the formalities to immediately provide aids from the department. The officials will assist the family to get the insurance claim of the deceased person.
Vehicle inspection for this will be completed immediately.
The order of the transport commissioner also appealed to the officials to convince the family if they respond badly while visiting the houses. The officials must inform the respective ward member or councillor and visit the houses along with them.
The MVD has proposed the home visit as part of the Safe Kerala project which aims to reduce road accidents in the state.
