Death threat to Jayarajan: 'Culprit' says police report is fake
Kannur: After the police stepped up security cover for CPM Kannur district secretary P Jayarajan citing death threat from a ‘hit squad’, the person named by the police as the leader of the gang which has taken up the ‘quotation’, has come up with counter-allegations against CPM and the police.
Talking to Mathrubhumi News, Pranoob said the Intelligence input about ‘quotation’ against Jayarajan is a ‘lie’. Pranoob further alleged that CPM workers had framed him in a false case earlier. They not only killed his father but also did not allow to cremate the body, he alleged.
Pranoob said he will take legal action over the allegations levelled against him. The Intelligence input was prepared with an intention to expel him from his home town, he said.
Pranoob is an accused in the murder of CPM worker Raveendran in Kannur. He is also arraigned in Mohan murder case.
The Kannur district police chief has sent a circular to all police stations in the city to increase the CPM leader's security in the light of this intelligence input. According to the circular, which was sent on Saturday, a "gang" led by Pranoob had been given money and a vehicle for this.
Meanwhile, BJP alleged that the "death threat script has been written by CPM and police in an attempt to glorify Jayarajan and to create tension in Kannur".
Pranoob denied having any role in the murder cases in which he has been arraigned.
