Death of mother, newborn in Pkd: Medical report points at negligence, doctors likely to be arrested


Palakkad: The doctors of Palakkad Thankam hospital are likely to be arrested after the medical report noted that medical negligence led to the death of a mother and child during delivery.

The medical board did a primary analysis of the deaths at a meeting convened two days ago. The report has been handed over to the health department.

The child of Aishwarya and Thathamanagalam native Ranjith died at the hospital on July 2, 2022, during the delivery. Doctors assured that Aishwarya will be safe. But she was also died two days later. Following this, relatives and natives protested against the hospital. The family alleged that the gynaecologist whom they were consulting during pregnancy was not leading the delivery.

The Palakkad Town South police had registered an FIR on the matter. The arrest of the doctors may be recorded after summoning them for questioning.
