Death of woman in Thrissur hotel room is a case of murder: Police

Thrissur: Police said that the death of a woman at a hotel room in Thrissur is another case of murder over 'love'. The man choked the woman to death after intoxicating her and killed himself later.

On Wednesday night, Palakkad native Giridas (39) and Thrissur native Rasma (31) were found dead in a hotel room in Thrissur. According to police, Giridas feared he would lose Rasma, which led him to plan the crime.

They checked in to the hotel on May 16. They went out and returned on Wednesday. Upon seeing no activity, hotel staff informed police. Both were found dead inside the room by police officers who broke in. The presence of alcohol was also found in the body, they said.

Rasma was a divorcee. Giridas, a bartender in Kollam, was son of a friend of Rasma's uncle. They became close during the Covid-19 lockdown period as Giridas used to frequent Rasma's house. Relatives said that the families were planning to marry them off. Rasma has a six-year-old child.
