Police searching near dam (left), Bineesh and Parvathy (right)

Adimali: Man and daughter who went missing from Kottayam were found dead at Kallarkutty dam in Idukki. The deceased have been identified as Pampady native Bineesh (45) and his daughter Parvathy (19). A preliminary probe marked that both of them had killed themselves by jumping from the dam.

Bineesh and his daughter had left the house by 11 am on Sunday. Bineesh had said that they were going to visit a relative in Kambhammettu. He was available by phone till 6 pm. But did not pick up any calls later. When his wife came to know that Bineesh and daughter had not reached the relative’s house even at night, she filed a missing complaint at Pampady police. Soon the police initiated searching for Bineesh and Parvathy.

By identifying the tower location of Bineesh’s mobile phone, police realised that they were in the vicinity of the Kallarkutty dam. The locals had spotted an abandoned bike here from Sunday evening. Police personnel recovered the mobile phone and a purse from the bike and informed the Adimali police. After confirming that the bike and phone belonged to Bineesh, police started to search for the missing persons from Monday morning, assuming that they might have jumped from the dam.
