Days after Dr Vandana’s death, another govt hospital in Kollam witnesses similar episode

Kollam: The death of Dr Vandana Das at Kottarakkara Taluk Hospital is still in the limelight and a similar episode happened on Saturday at the district hospital, which is located less than 30 km.

The incident occurred around 5:20 pm when the accused was brought for a medical examination. According to reports, the accused created a scene at the casualty. No unfortunate events occurred as medical officer Dr. A Jasmine, house surgeons, and patients fled the scene.

The accused, identified as Vishnu and a native of Anchalumoodu, was brought in by the Anchalumoodu Police. He was seen stamping on the table and issuing a death threat. Footage of the incident has emerged, in which Vishnu can be heard saying, "I will end your life today...You come here...I will end it for you."

Vishnu was handcuffed and under the control of two cops. Those inside fled due to fear and another cop had to intervene to bring him under control.

The medical officer informed the police that it was risky to treat the accused. "However, the SI insisted," she noted. After the medical check-up, the accused was taken to the station. He reportedly calmed down after some time and was later released on bail.

According to police, the accused was nabbed for creating issues at home after getting drunk. The doctor was informed about the accused’s temper and condition, an official said.
