Idukki: The water level at Mullaperiyar dam has risen to 140.5 feet, inching towards the upper rule curve at 141 feet. 2,300 cubic feet of water is flowing into the dam. At present, Tamil Nadu is prompt in maintaining the water below the rule curve and is drawing water.
However, Tamil Nadu has alerted that the spillway shutters of Mullaperiyar dam will be opened any time if water level keeps increasing. An alert has been issued in the regions near the banks of Periyar. The neccassary precautions are also taken, informed the district administration.
Meanwhile, 2399.16 cubic feet of water is flowing to Idukki dam. There is no change in water level at Idukki dam. The condition is stable since last 12 hours as waterflow in the catchment areas too have reduced. Most of the water is utilised for electricity generation which inturn reduces the water level.
